"Best Damn Thing" Is Classic Avril With A Few New Twists

With her third studio release, Avril Lavigne seems to be continuing on the superstar's path that she found herself on way back in 2002 with the single "Complicated."

The Canadian signer-songwriter, who is only now in her early 20s, has made some interesting moves in her newest musical undertakings. The biggest difference is, as Lavigne has grown up, we've also come to see her grow as an artist. In many of the tracks from her newest release "Best Damn Thing," the music plays out with the sounds and lyrical style she's become known for. But, there are also a number of tracks with a new and interesting twist.

Probably the best songs an the album are "Runaway," "Innocence," Girlfriend" and "Contagious." These range from featuring strong beats and the typical Avril style ("Runaway"), to soft and powerful ballads ("Innocence"), to more fun and energetic sounds ("Girlfriend" and "Contagious").

But as with just about any album, there are a few songs that just really do not quite stand out among the rest.

Her least impressive effort by far is "I Don't Have to Try," featuring what seems to be some sort of experiment gone wrong. "Keep Holding On" and I Can Do Better" are a bit to basic and mechanical respectively.

Overall, "Best damn Thing" is yet another good showing by a truly talented young lady who likely has many years of a solid career ahead of her.

I'd rate this album 3.5 out of 5 or a solid B.

7 Must Haves For an Emo Girl!

Some think it is weird, for others it is a style statement; I find it hip, cool and funky. Yes, I am talking about Emo fashion. I am sure you have seen many people, including Avril Lavigne and Adam Lambert, with straight long side bangs, black eye make-up and black nail paints. These girls and boys have a special place for Black color in their wardrobe. They love to wear simple half sleeved T-shirts with slim fit denims in blue. With a lot of Black in their wardrobe they make a distinct style statement. It looks attractive and totally in vogue. If you too want to try this highly fashionable trend, here I have a list of seven must haves. Go for it and enjoy being a chic.

#1 Hair straightening rods

Talking about this fashion, the first striking thing that you will notice is the straight long and side bangs. For this you will require hair straightening rods. Easily available in market, it just takes about 15-20 minutes for normal to a little wavy hair to get straightened. When you are done with the straightening thing make a side partition and let your hair loosely fall on one side.

# 2 Black Mascara

Apply black mascara to your eyelashes. Mascara will give thickness to your eye-lashes and it will also make your eyes look long, dark and smoky.

# 3 Black eyeliner

Now, with the help of a black eyeliner, define the upper eyelid. Make the line fine and thick. Use a jet-black eyeliner for maximum impact.

# 4 Black Kohl

Apply Black kohl to your already defined eyes. Use dark, raven black and anti-smudging kohl. It will long last and will not smear even if it is sweaty heat. Apply it twice or thrice, until your eyes look smoky, dark and properly defined.

#5 Black Nail Polish

Pain your tips and toes with black nail polish. It hardly matters, if you have long or cropped nails. It is a very important part of this look. So, be sure your nails are well painted with the black beauty.

#6 Wacky Belts

After you are done with your eye make-up, nail-polish and hairstyle, slide in a pair of slim fit blue denim and a simple T-shirt, usually with a wacky message o picture, like the one in above picture and to add this zing, wear a belt with a funky logo.

#7 Canvas Shoes

Last but not the least; get ready to rock the streets down the town in lace-up canvas shoes, preferably in black. Now, you are absolutely ready with this allure. Good luck buddy, I am sure you will rock!

Avril Lavigne "Let Go" Pop Music CD Review

I can describe the latest release from Pop sensation Avril Lavigne for you with just one word... Outstanding!

Avril Lavigne has been a heavy hitter in the Pop genre for quite a while now and Let Go is an excellent illustration as to why.

Let Go is a nicely varied, mix of 13 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly gifted artist. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are her own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They're all here.

Listen to this CD and I believe you'll find there's not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, the production is simply outstanding, and Avril Lavigne's voice is in top form. If you're even mildly into Pop music you'll enjoy this album.

While this entire album is really very good some of my favorites are track 1, Losing Grip, track 4, I'm With You, track 9, Things I'll Never Say.

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 8, Anything But Ordinary. Great track!

Avril Lavigne's "Goodbye Lullaby" Showcases Artist's Growth and Versatility

Since launching her career almost a decade ago, her fans have come to know Avril Lavigne as colorful punk princess. And, it has only been on a few rare occasions (like the songs "I'm With You" and "Slipped Away") in which we've had the chance to see another side to the pop superstar.

Well, since the early days of teenage, emotion-driven tracks like "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi" back in the early part of the new millennium, she's had a great musical journey and her fans have been fortunate enough to be a part of it.

On "Goodbye Lullaby," Lavigne's fourth studio album, she presents a slightly different energy. Although there are still the pop-punk sounds that have been the staples of her CDs, she also showcases a different, more mature sound. Essentially, Lavigne shows a little more in terms of her softer side while somehow still maintaining the rock vibe she has become synonymous with.

"Goodbye Lullaby" features 13 tracks plus "Alice" which is listed as an additional bonus song. And, as is typical of her music, all of these have either been written or co-written by Lavigne herself.

Probably the best tracks on "Goodbye Lullaby" include:

"What The Hell" - Her ode to letting loose and having fun.
"Smile" - Features the classic punk-pop feel Lavigne has become known for over the years.
"Push" - More vintage Avril with a catchy beat and very cool hook.
"Not Enough" - A subtle yet powerful and emotionally driven ballad.
"Darlin" - A lyrical joy written when she was just 14.

My least favorite tracks would have to be:

"Wish You Where Here" - Not bad but doesn't seem to flow as nice as the others.
"Stop Standing There" - A little too heavy on the pop vibe.
"I Love You" - Feels a little cliché.

All in all, Lavigne should have yet another hit on her hands with "Goodbye Lullaby" as she continues to grow as an artist and entertainer.

I give "Goodbye Lullaby: a rating of 4 out of 5 starts or a B+ if you prefer the grading scale method. Of course, this album should go over very well with Lavigne's diehard fans. But, with its subtle side and differing style, I would fully expect her to pick up some new ones along the way.

In addition to current fans, I would recommend this CD to anyone interested in versatile artists with a major knack for lyrical creativity and song writing.

Avril Lavigne: A Talented Singer Who Understands the Importance of the Voice and Lyrics in a Song

Avril Lavigne's background is that she is a Canadian-born artist who came into the music scene with the release of her first album at the age of 17. In 2002 her "Let Go" album went 6x Platinum, in 2004 her "Under My Skin" album went 3x Platinum, following that was "Best Damn Thing" which was also a Platinum best seller and her "Goodbye Lullaby" album is off to a roaring good start. At the last count she has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Some of my favorite songs are "I Love You," "I Will Be," "When Your Gone," and "Keep Holding On." Her songs have graced the movie soundtracks of such feature films as Sweet Home Alabama, Bruce Almighty, Legally Blond 2, The Princess Diaries 2, and The House Bunny. Her album "The Best Damn Thing" includes the epic ballad "Keep Holding On" which Lavigne wrote at the request of 20th Century Fox for the studio's fantasy/adventure film Eragon.

One of Avril's biggest selling records was a No.1 single called "Girlfriend" that was the top digital track of 2007 selling more than 7.3 million downloads in eight languages. And if that isn't enough this multi-talented singer also has her own clothing line brand called (Abbey Dawn) and two fragrances called (Black Star and Forbidden Rose). Kohl's department stores carry her line of fragrances.

When I first saw her on the Today show there were certain things that appealed to me. She has a good personality and she was friendly. Not every performer has those traits. Also she was very comfortable as a performer. In other words she fits on the stage in her surroundings with ease. A past performer on American Idol named Crystal Bowersox also has that comfortable feeling when performing. When an entertainer has that trait, it rubs off on the audience in a positive way.

I remember reading that when Avril first started out she refused to resort to the allure of skin-baring, preferring to entice the record buying public with her voice, high-spirited melodies, and straight talking lyrics. Sadly it seems that in this day and age much attention is given to glitz, pizazz, and skin-baring rather than the quality of the singer's voice, the lyrics and the music. The fact that Avril has taken her career seriously and knows the right things to concentrate on is most assuredly admirable for this delightful singer.

The Inspiration For Avril Lavigne's Lyrics

Every music artist has their own reasons for getting into music. It seems lately that more and more people are getting into music just for the hopes of getting signed to a big record label and having more money than they know what to do with. I am not one to say that musicians don't deserve compensation for their time but I think that shows like American Idol and Cribs have skewed peoples vision of what music is really about, music is an art, and when people pursue it as such that is when truly great music is made.

Part of the reason Avril Lavignes music is so great is the fact that she isn't in it just for the money. In a recent interview she was asked if her goal was getting a record deal when she got into music she answered that she has been singing and performing since she was two. All through life she enjoyed performing because she loved the music, and because she loved the music then the record deals came. Even before her first album came out at the young age of 17 she said that she knew this was something that she has wanted to do for awhile.

Other than her pure love of the music Avril Lavigne had several other sources for inspiration for her music. When asked in an interview if she kept a journal to get inspiration for her songs she answered with a resounding "no." She said that she will actually write songs on the spot, she will sit down with her guitar if there is a situation that she feels strongly about, or a guy that she's been thinking about or if she is pissed off at a guy, it will come out in song form.

When Avril Lavinge was asked about people that inspired and influenced her music style she said that she really created her style on her own and that she didn't really listen to other people's music until after gradeschool. She says that she got a lot of her inspiration and experience from singing in the church choir. If that think that is a strange inspiration for her music keep in mind that she also liked to listen to faith hill and the Dixie chicks. Now though, she has begun supporting her own genre by listening to more punk and rock. Listening to music and picking up her dads guitar and putting her lines to music as she slowly taught herself to play the guitar was how her music came to where it is today, that was the birth of Avril Lavigne Lyrics.

Getting The Most Out Of Celebrity Clothing Lines

Celebrity clothing lines have become somewhat of a big hype these days. That's because celebrities always look great in their clothes, and it would be nice to see what they're endorsing next in the fashion industry. While celebrity clothing is a big hit, you'll need to be more familiar with what goes around it and budget wisely!

There are now many famous stars who own celebrity clothing lines. Jessica Simpson herself had up to 3 ranges of clothing in 2005. Designs ranged from Juniors to wedges to cowboy boots. Milla Jovovich also had her celebrity line, which features vintage-inspired clothing. If you're interested in swimwear, Elizabeth Hurley has a celebrity line selling beachwear. Jlo's fashion company made millions from selling junior clothing, girls clothing, plus-size clothing, perfumes and accessories! One of the latest celebrity lines is one endorsed by Avril Lavigne. It is basically designed for the "junior lifestyle" and is said to reflect Lavigne's personal style. Lavigne herself stated that she makes sure items have a good fit and great quality. Plus, the line is made to be affordable.

While stars look great, don't always expect good quality because you are wearing their clothes. In fact, not all celebrities wear clothes from their own celebrity lines. Remember, celebrities will always look good because they have their own stylists and make-up artists. To get the best celebrity clothing for you, get to know the reason why they were created in the first place.

We are often psychologically drawn to celebrities because of their high status and reputation as being the beautiful people. Hence, we like the idea of buying from their celebrity fashion line so we could associate ourselves with their high status. The reality is some celebrities don't even design their own clothes, and they are rather used for endorsement to make big bucks. The key things you should really be looking for in a celebrity fashion line are purpose and quality.

What was the purpose of that particular celebrity fashion line? Why was it created in the first place? There are actually some celebrities who genuinely want to design a line that could help people with specific concerns. Oftentimes these celebrities showcase clothing that are very much like the clothes they wear, for example Avril Lavigne. There are celebrity fashion lines that were designed mainly for a woman's natural curves, for the classic look, or for a certain personality. So, don't settle for just any piece of clothing because a celebrity designed it! Instead, look for creativity and quality, and avoid buying items that simply have the "stamp" of a celebrity's name.

If you absolutely love the style of your favorite celebrity, why not get some celebrity-inspired clothing? You don't always have to buy from celebrity clothing lines to emulate a celebrity's style. Get a few items from a celebrity fashion line and simply throw in a number of celebrity-inspired clothing to enrich your new wardrobe. Buy a skeleton top from Lavigne's fashion line and then buy some cheap, funky jewelry from Target or other department stores to complete the look all on your own. Completely copying your favorite celebrity will simply make you a copycat and boring in a fashion sense. Get inspired instead, and incorporate your own personal style to make the most out of your new celebrity wardrobe.

Avril Lavigne Let Go Album

So what happens when you cross a young Canadian 17 year old with a t-shirt, dickies and a guitar? The answer to that question is pure magic! In the few years since a young Avril Lavigne released the album "Let Go" it has become quite apparent that she is not the one hit wonder than many people might have thought. With the release of her first sing "Complicated" at such a young age and during the MTV Total Request Live "Bubble" Avril found herself getting stereotyped and categorized into a group with the likes of Michelle Branch and Vanessa Carlson. With the later release of "Sk8er Boi" Avril was able to separate herself from the pack of TRL's other female artist and found herself being compared to more established female artist and fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette.

As some people reviewed her albums they even said that they preferred her music and abilities over that of Alanis. Nobody knows if it was the way that this talented singer/songwriter and guitar player poured her heart and soul into the album "Let Go" or if it was the fact that it was full of the type of teen angst that everyone can relate to but either way nobody could question the fact that Avril had gone from a no name to a household name in a very short amount of time.

When questioned about the success of her album "Let Go" Avril said that a lot of hard work by many, many people helped this record come about. Throughout the duration of a year she worked with several different songwriters and producers and wrote tons of songs. During that time she was able to do a lot of finding herself musically, and trying as hard as possible to find people that she could connect with while finding just the right sound that she wanted to go with. She said that despite the struggle in the beginning she was really, really pleased with how the record turned out in the end, judging by the millions of copies of her album "Let Go" that have sold worldwide since its release in June of 2002 she is obviously not the only one who was pleased with the end result of all her hard work.

The release of Let Go was so successful in fact that she took the world by storm with her world tour titled "Try to shut me up" which was a huge success. For those of you who may have missed her amazing world tour I would definitely recommend taking a look at her My World DVD which was released in the fall of 2003 which features live versions of Avril Lavignes hits including Complicated, Sk8er Boi as well as cover tunes like Green Day's Basket Case.

She has definitely come a long way since her days of singing about not fitting in, her crushes and her heart being broken and there seems to be no end in site.

Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi

Sk8er Boi is the second single from pop-rock star Avril Lavigne's debut album Let Go. Written by Lavigne and The Matrix and released in 2002, Sk8er Boi reached number ten on the United States Billboard Hot 100. The song reached number eight in the U.K., thirteen in Canada, three in Australia, and number one in Spain.

Sk8er Boi was used in many different media outlets. It has been heard in the television show Cold Case. It also appears in the video games Elite Beat Agents and SingStar Pop. In 2003, the song was optioned for a movie by Paramount Pictures but has either been abandoned or is in development hell.

The song Sk8er Boi is about a preppy girl and a skater boy. The boy openly likes the girl but she refuses to tell him her true feelings, that she likes him back, because of peer pressure from her friends. Eventually he becomes a rock star and she sees him on television. She regrets not telling him her feelings while she had the chance. He is now dating someone else.

Some people trace the inspiration of the song to Marc Gould who Lavigne was dating at the time. Other people say that Sk8er Boi is Lavigne's autobiography, with one small exception, she is the skater that liked a preppy boy.

The music video was directed by Francis Lawrence. The video starts with a man in an alley with a mound of spray paint on the ground. He is advertising for a concert that Lavigne is hosting. The video continues with advertising seen everywhere from computers and cell phones to coffee cups. There is even a star, the symbol of her concert, spray painted on the road. In the middle of the music video it shows Lavigne and her band setting up for a concert on top of cars. The concert begins and people start filling in around the cars. Eventually the police try to stop the concert. They start putting people into the police car and Lavigne finishes her concert by smashing her guitar into a windshield. The last shot of the video is of a helicopter flying over Lavigne and Lavigne looking up at it. FYI If you watch the music video closely you'll see that Lavigne switches from blue to black pants with her green shirt halfway through the music video.

In the music video Lavigne is wearing a green and gold shirt from Wilkesboro Elementary in North Carolina. She picked the shirt up at a thrift store in New York. Orders poured in from all over the world for the T-shirt Lavigne had worn in the video. The shirts had been out of circulation for four years but were reprinted. The school earned enough money from the t-shirt sales to buy new computers.

Avril Lavigne Biography

The Canadian pop punk princess has grown up, Avril Lavigne now goes in for the glamorous look. She used to be known for her tomboy style, wearing a necktie, tank top, baggy clothes, sneakers or converse boots and shoelaces tied around her fingers.

Then she went through the "Goth" period, dressing entirely in black, with black lipstick and black hair, but she says that was never the real her, it was just a costume.

Born in Belleville, Ontario and moving to Napanee when she was 5-years-old, she comes from a working class family, who encouraged her singing. At the age of 2-years-old she began singing in the church choir alongside her mother and her father bought her a microphone, drum kit, keyboard and several guitars.

He also converted the basement of their house into a studio and when she was 14 her parents started to take her to karaoke sessions.

Her first taste of stardom was when she won a radio competition at the age of 15 to sing with Shania Twain on stage at the Corel Centre in Ottawa. The couple sang "What Made You Say That" in front of 20,000 people. A year later she signed a record contract with Arista, now RCA Records.

She was offered a two-album record deal worth more than $2 million and when she was 17-years-old she rocketed on to the music scene with her debut album "Let's Go" which was released in 2002.

Lavigne is a girl who knows what she wants and her hard work and determination paid off when she created history by becoming the youngest soloist to reach number 1 in the UK and her album was certified four-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

She was writing her own songs as well and the first thing she penned was "Can't Stop Thinking About You" about a teenage crush she had on a man she called "cheesy cute."

In July 2006 she married her boyfriend of two years, Derek Whibley, lead singer and guitarist of the rock band "Sum 41". They had known each other since she was 17 and the wedding took place on a private estate in Montecito, California in front of 110 guests.

She wore a gown designed by Vera Wang and was walked down the aisle by her father to Mendelsson's Wedding March. It was a very glamorous affair with lots of real flowers and rose petals at the ceremony, followed by an hour-long cocktail party and a sit-down meal.

Whibley had been her best friend since they met and he arranged a secret holiday for her in Venice. Taking her by gondola to a picnic he proposed to her in one of the most romantic cities in the world. When she went on her world tour their marriage began to run into trouble and they separated on 17th September 2009.

The split was amicable and she said they had simply "grown apart." She filed for divorce on October 9 2009 saying, "I am grateful for our time together and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship."

The divorce was finalised on November 16th 2010 but they remain good friends and are continuing to work together. He is producing her 4th album "Alice" written for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."

In 2008 she launched her clothing line "Abbey Dawn" named after her childhood nickname and she designed the back to school collection herself. It is produced by Kohl which is the brand's exclusive American retailer.

In 2009 her first perfume "Black Star" was launched, this was followed by "Forbidden Rose" in 2010 and she has also branched out into acting in films and on television. She is currently dating "Hills" star Brody Jenner and they have had each have tattoos with each other's names inscribed.

Napenee Rocks with Avril Lavigne

At age 22, born September 27, 1984 Avril Ramona Lavigne put Napanee on the map. Canadian born, multi-talented Avril was born in the town of Napanee located in the Province of Ontario in of course this great land of mine, Canada. Avril is of a French Canadian descent. Her parents are John and Judy Lavigne and she holds middle child status between her sister, Michelle, and her brother, Matthew.

For any one out there willing to take a drive to Avril's home town Napanee, or better yet, set down roots, you're not likely to be disappointed. Although currently Avril shares a new home and a new marriage (July 15, 2006) in California with her husband Deryck Whibley, whom she dated for two years (check out his band Sum 41), she still calls Napanee her home.

Napanee's most recent population count stands at 151,132 and is recognized not only for Avril, but for its beauty, it's often referred to as one of the prettiest towns in Ontario. Napanee is truly the place to be! Avril sightings, Lavigne sightings, the Napanee River which by the way is one of only two inland rivers in the world that has a tide, (you can actually sit on a bench and watch it go in and out), all make Napanee one of the premier spots in the land of Avril. Napanee as you can imagine holds tons of stories and interesting facts about the Lavignes.

Take a drive to Napanee and if you are a really big Avril Lavigne fan and want to go a step further, you'll find Napanee is a really affordable place to live. The average home mortgage loan is a mere $109,000.00. Napanee's largest employer is Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company - bet there are a few Lavignes working there! Not far from the Ocean either, the Napanee River passes through the downtown core, joins the Bay of Quinte which connects to Lake Ontario which connects to the St. Lawrence Seaway which connects to the Ocean. Ok... so a little far, but downtown Napanee does have a natural spring and that's pretty cool.

While you're checking out the Napanee home of the Lavignes, visit Canada's oldest furniture store, Gibbards...really cool!...and keep on keeping on until you check out boutiques such as April's Image, October's Clothing, and Starlet. Len's Bakery is yummy and Café Blanche Dubois is a great spot to chat Avril. Avril's musical talent was evident at around age two and by her tween years she was writing songs and teaching herself to play guitar. Napanee is where Avril sang in Church choirs, at Fairs and at Festivals (I bet there are some really cool videos).

Check out some Sabrina the Teenage Witch flicks too for Avril sightings - she had a reoccurring acting role. When she was sixteen she was spotted by record producers who wanted to manufacture a pop star (ooh another Brittany or Shania), but Avril went her own way and the rest is history. One of her hits was featured on Dawson's Creek and her 2002 debut album received five Grammy nominations. Avril was only seventeen years old when she put that album together. You go girl! Napanee Rocks!

Avril Lavigne - Where Does She Live and Who is She?

Have you heard of the song "complicated"? How about "Sk8er Boi?", "Girlfriend"? Of course you have! Who hasn't? Avril Ramona Lavigne has been an icon in the entertainment industry and has made her mark by proving her individual style in both music and in style has made her what she is today, a legend. Although many are quick to disagree with labelling her as a legend, I say, for someone so young to have made such a huge mark in the industry, to have started the whole "Tie and Tank Top" trend, she must be something alright.

She was born in the city of Belleville in Ontario Canada on the 27th of September 1984, but moved to the small town of Napanee with her parents 5 years later. She then moved to New York with her brother at an older age because she decided she wanted to pursue a career in singing, which comes to no surprise because she undeniably has a lovely singing voice indeed. Even before that, she began to showcase her talent by appearing alongside Shania Twain during her concert in Ontario in 1998. It was in 1999 when local folk singer Steve Medd insisted on her contributing her vocals on his song "Touch the Sky", which led to her singing gospel songs such as "Temple of Life".

On the 4th of June 2002, she released her debut album Let Go which consisted of the super famous hit "Complicated", which a music video was made for and won itself a MTV Video Music Award in 2002. I remember watching that exact segment during the award presentation, it was then I began to ask "Who is this girl? I really like her and her music". She has launched two albums ever since, Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing. She is now in the works of creating her fourth studio album. She has even acted in a few sitcoms and films, such as the "Fast Food Nation" In 2006 and "The Flock" In 2007.

Avril has grown as a celebrity in a phenomenon was and has even released her own fragrance called "Black Star" in collaboration with Procter & Gamble Prestige Products. She is soon to be releasing another perfume called "Forbidden Rose" As an extension of Black Star, both being of a gothic-garden theme.

So where does Avril Lavigne live now? She currently lives in a $14 million home in Bel Air in the city of Los Angeles which was bought together with her ex-husband Deryck Whibley, lead singer of punk rock band Sum 41. She tends to commute in between Los Angeles and New York.

Avril Lavigne Excited That Rihanna Sampled I'm With You

One of the thrilling moments artists come across with involves revision of their songs. For them, this is an indication that they did a good job with their rendition that other artists get their inspiration from. Simply put, this tells that they have created an impact; their songs particularly.

This sounds true for Avril Lavigne. During an interview, Avril said that she was excited to listen to her song "I'm With You" being sampled in Rihanna's song "Cheers (Drink to That)" from her latest album "Loud". She added that it is one of her favorite songs; that she always love to include in her performance. She was impressed with Rihanna's performance saying that she's a great singer.

Why not a duet instead?

When asked why she was not invited over to come over the studio to sing it with Rihanna, Avril was told by the producers that the recording was already done. She said that when she listened to it, she was delighted. It didn't present any issue, in other words.

"I'm With You" is part of Avril's debut album back in 2002. The yodel hearde from this track made a strong impression compelling Rihanna to include it in her own song. Thus, this yodel made its own recognition of Avril's style in music. This particular song made it to the top 10 US chart. On the other hand, "Cheers (Drink to That)" is considered as one of Rihanna's most liked tracks on her latest album. The overall impact that it makes calls for celebration which tells the audience that weekend is just around the corner.

Commendation of each other

As an artist herself, Avril did not only get excited with the sampling of her song, she was also stunned by Rihanna's own twist made on her yodel. Both apparently share the same enthusiasm with music. On an interview, Rihanna said that she was just glad to use Avril's yodel as a sample saying that it made a huge impact on the instrumental part; that if not for the yodel, the whole vide would have sounded differently.

Rihanna had some collaboration with other artists such as Sean Paul Jay-Z, Chris Brown, Eminem and Maroon 5. Many fans were wondering what it would be like if Avril and Rihanna had a duet in her song Cheers (Drink to That). Well, if you like the rendition of Rihanna of this song, then you'd probably appreciate them singing together.

A comeback single will be released by Avril entitled "What the Hell". This track will be premiered on New Year's Rockin' Eve by Dick Clark. She described t as "more pop and un-tempo" while looking back at her old stuff. The singer/songwriter/fashion designer shared that in her next album, Goodbye Lullaby, her fans can expect a material that's "more stripped and raw and a little deeper".

The tracks included on the album are "I Love You", "Push", "Wish You Were Here", "Stop Standing There", and a whole lot more to look forward to! Some said that Avril's failed marriage translated to this new album. Let's just wait for the release.

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend

Girlfriend is the lead single on Canadian Pop Rock star Avril Lavigne's third album, The Best Damn Thing. It was produced by Lukasz Gottwald and has done the best out of all of Lavigne's songs in the United States hitting the number one spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In the United Kingdom it reached number two and it was number one for 6 weeks in Australia.

The song is about Lavigne's crush on a boy that currently has a girlfriend. It features they pop-punk influence of the eighties and sounds like Lavigne's earlier songs. It did so well that it has been translated into seven different languages; French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish. It has appeared in many things such as the video game Burnout Dominator and Burnout Paradise. Girlfriend also appeared in the trailers for the live action Bratz film, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Bring It On: In It to Win It.

The music video for Girlfriend was directed by The Malloys and filmed in Norwalk, California at the Golf 'n' Stuff. Lavigne plays two girls, an innocent girl with glasses and red hair, and an evil girl with black hair. The black-haired girl tries repeatedly to outdo the red-haired girl and win over a man, played by American Model Bryan McMullin. In the end she hits the red-haired girl with a golf ball, making her fall into water, and stealing the heart of the boy.

Lavigne's hit song had some controversy when the Rubinoos filed a law suit against Lavigne saying that she copied their 1979 single "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". In January of 2008 the lawsuit was settled and it was decided that the similarities between the two songs were because of "certain common and widely used lyrics", and they "completely exonerate Avril and Luke from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made [in the] lawsuit."

Lavigne told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette this about the Girlfriend law suit, "You have to understand this kind of stuff happens to people all the time, especially when they have a big hit song. And it's happened to me before with other songs; it just wasn't made public. That's what people do, it's like whatever, it's not a big deal. Everyone made it into a big deal because it went public. It was never a big deal for me."

Avril Lavigne - From Punk Rock To Bubblegum Pop

A renaissance woman in her own way, Avril Lavigne has defined what a true blue music maker is. A singer, lyricist, and musician, she is definitely one of the hottest and biggest celebrities every young fan adores. And now, from the punk princess we've always known, she has somewhat embarked herself in a new style of music with her recent album, The Best Damn Thing. Yes, she's no longer that hardcore, guitar-strumming chick with a tough attitude. Move over Sk8er Boi, here comes Girlfriend!

Born on September 27, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario, Avril's talent was honed at an early age, two to be exact, when her mother noticed her singing along with their church choir. In 1998, she won a competition and sang with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain. Having performed in several shows, she was invited to sing in front of one of the biggest American record executives and most influential men in the music business, Antonio "L.A." Reid, at the age of sixteen. After that, she was immediately signed and began working on her debut album.

Let Go was a phenomenal success (with hit songs Complicated, Sk8er Boi, I'm With You, and Losing Grip), making her an instant celebrity. Avril was put in line along with the top, young calibers of the music industry such as the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Let Go became the best selling album of the year for a female artist and for a debut album in 2002. And up to date, it has sold over 16 million copies worldwide.

In 2004, her sophomore album, Under My Skin, materialized. It debuted at number one in the U.S. and in other parts of the globe. Really, endearing fans can't seem to get enough with this skateboarding celebrity punk princess.

Avril's recent offering, The Best Damn Thing, topped the charts in April 2007. And with her first single, Girlfriend, fans saw the transformation of this punk lady to a move-busting pop princess. Yes, she's not only strumming that guitar and rocking with her band - she also dances now! Her tough image has somewhat shifted to a girlie, teeny-bopper one, thanks to the bubblegum pop kind of music she showcases in her new album.

Many people attributed the changes in Avril's music and personality with her marriage to Deryck Whibley, the lead vocalist of the Canadian band, Sum 41. But despite the new look and attitude, Avril still remains at the top of the list. This goes to show that fans like what they're seeing and hearing. She's a great example of how an artist can manage to reinvent herself without losing her fans' support and adulation.

I am just a fan who wants to know and write things about celebrities. So come with me and let's take a glimpse at the limelight scene.

Little Known Avril Lavigne Facts

Avril Lavigne travels with a bag full of about 30 neck ties. Some of them Avril bought and the rest of 'em she just takes from her dad.

Avril Lavigne broke a record set by Madonna. Yup, the 17 year-old Canadian's hit song, Complicated, held the number one spot on the Contemporary Hit Radio chart (which tracks air play on the radio) for 11 weeks in a row. Madonna previously held the record with her song Music which held onto number one for 10 weeks.

Avril Lavigne's hittin' the tube for an appearance this fall on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. What do ya think she'll be doing? Performing of course. Avril will rock-out in a nightclub.

Avril Lavigne has a cameo in Treble Charger's video for Hundred Million. Other groups who appear in the band's video include Sum 41 and Swollen Members.

Avril got her first kiss one night in grade nine when her parents were away and a boi came over. The best time to catch Avril Lavigne singing her song Losing Grip is when she's angry. "I really like performing it when I'm mad," says Avril. "And I'm always mad at boys."
